Relative Insanity is coming to Lifetime on April 25th

Lifetime is looking for a few good families to torture.

The female-skewing cable network has picked up reality competition series Relative Insanity, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

From the producers of Big Brother, the 10-episode series will focus on two families who are each locked in a room with their “loved ones” in a bid to compete for a $25,000 cash prize.

Each hourlong episode will feature dueling families locked in neighboring rooms for two days during which they’ll attempt to outlast and out-fox the competition and earn the most money through physical challenges, wild games and controversial family decisions.

Unaware of how much the other group has earned, the families will be tempted to spend their winnings on luxuries and household staples to make their stay more bearable. Those who can’t — or who need to escape their relatives — can hit the escape button for an early exit, putting their entire family’s chance of winning on the line.

Lifetime will premiere the series — parts Fear Factor, Survivor and Big Brother — on Friday, April 25 at 10 p.m.

Relative Insanity hails from Fly on the Wall Entertainment (Big Brother, Big Rich Texas,Summer Camp, Remodeled), with partners Allison Grodner and Rich Meehanattached to exec produce alongside John Platt, a former supervising and co-EP on Big Brother. Lifetime’s Eli LehrerMary Donahue and David Hillman will oversee for the cable network.

Relative Insanity joins an unscripted roster at Lifetime that also includes Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, Project Runway, Dance Moms, Preachers’ Daughters, Supermarket Superstar and more.
